Camera Ready Guide
1. Hair & Makeup Advice Schedule haircuts and color touch-ups at least a week before your session. Go with a natural look that enhances your features—avoid heavy makeup unless it’s your usual style. If you're doing your own makeup, opt for matte finishes to avoid shine on camera.
2. Prepare Your Skin: Hydrate well the day before and get plenty of rest. Avoid trying new skincare products right before your session to prevent breakouts. Lightly moisturize on the day of your shoot—avoid oily products that reflect flash.
3. Hair Styling: Style your hair in a way that reflects your personality and suits the purpose of the headshots. Use styling products to add volume and control frizz but avoid anything that makes your hair look greasy.
4. Nail Prep: Keep nails neat and clean—neutral or classic colors work best. If you're doing a family or couple session, make sure everyone's hands are photo-ready.
5. Rest and Relax: Arrive early to the shoot location to give yourself time to relax and acclimate to the setting. Practice some relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, to ease any nerves before the session.
6. Comfort Counts: Wear shoes you can walk or pose comfortably in, especially if we'll be on location. Bring a pair of backup shoes for walking between locations.
7. Communicate with Your Photographer: Discuss your expectations and any specific shots you want beforehand. Share your interests or hobbies to help the photographer bring out your personality in the photos.
8. Holiday Deadlines: If you'd like to use your photos for Christmas cards or holiday gifts, schedule your session with enough time for editing, printing, and mailing—typically at least 4–6 weeks in advance. Remember we are in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, it's always desert! However, if you are seeking to book up North for the fall leaves, you will need to book way in advance.
